St. Andrew is a Catholic diocesan school in the Arch-diocese of Philadelphia, located in Newtown, PA – Bucks County. The school provides a quality Catholic Education rooted in the Gospel to children ranging from K-8th grade. It is a co-ed shool. The school’s mission is to proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ in order to empower students to live the message of the Gospel, to foster a community of practiced faith and to promote a generous spirit that brings forth service to others. Saint Andrew School aims to be a vibrant, dynamic place to learn. They participate in Planet Green ink/toner recycling program as a fundraiser for the school.
1- Why are you fundraising with us?
We fundraise primarily to offset paper and ink costs for the school, it is also an opportunity for our students and families to support our environment by recycling.
2- How long have you been fundraising with Planet Green? How much have you raised so far?
We signed up for the recycling program in 2010, and so far we’ve raised about $4,420.
4- How has your experience been so far?
Great experience that our students really get behind.
5- What are your recommendations for anyone who’s considering the program or is new to it?
It is a simple process that is easy to get off the ground. Would recommend an “incentive” for students (I describe ours below.)
6- Anything else you would like to add?
To really get the students and families involved we entice them with an incentive for the students. Our students wear uniforms, so as you can imagine, it is a great day for them when they can “dress down” and wear an outfit of their choice. We have structured our recycling program to give the student one (1) “Dress Down Day” pass for every two (2) ink cartridges / toners they donate. Our policy allows the students to use their DDD passes on Friday’s as an opportunity to dress out of uniform. This is a no-cost incentive for the school that really gets the students excited to be involved.
