We’ve collected a bunch of our favorite DIY upcycle projects for your viewing pleasure. We like upcycling for the same reason we value remanufacturing— re-use and upcycling means we give new life to old stuff, and promote the good habit of using every useable thing instead of just chucking things into the bin. Get inspired by one of these for a fun summer project, and let us know what you tried!
It’s amazing what a plastic bottle can become with just a pair of scissors and a little creativity. This is the kind of DIY upcycle project you can do over and over, because bottles are always coming in when we buy new food.
Cut a section out of the side for a handy bin or a bird feeder. Poke holes in the cap of a milk bottle and use it as a watering can. Snip the top off milk bottles for the perfect pots to start seedlings. Cut the bottoms off, then decorate and you can use them for a fun way to play catch. Finally, with enough bottles saved up, you can upcycle them into a cool igloo to play in!
Take a soda bottle and cut as shown to create a unique favor box for party guests. You can fill it with candies or other little treats!
