Q. Are there any fees to join?

A. No! Once you enroll, we'll send you free collection boxes, pay your shipping and issue a check based on the market value of the eligible cartridges and cell phones you send us.

Q. Do we have to be part of a school or a charity to recycle?

A. You don’t have to be a school or charity to recycle your printer cartridges and cell phones with us. We'll reward anyone's efforts for recycling. Businesses and individuals are just as welcome to join.

Q. How much money can our organization generate from your collection program?

A. It's up to you. Reach out to as many supporters as possible in collecting empty inkjets, laser cartridges (local to Los Angeles) and cell phones for your organization. The more you collect, the more you will earn. For a full listing of recyclable items that we pay for, click here.

Q. How can our organization collect empty inkjet cartridges and used cell phones?

A. Inkjet cartridges and cell phones are small and easy to collect. Once you enroll with Planet Green, you can order collection boxes and/or shipping labels. Use them to collect and ship as many empty inkjets and old phones as possible (a minimum of 20 per box and/or label). Don’t forget to pack carefully, wrap the cartridges in used baggies and fill the box with used paper.

Q. How do we send in our empty cartridges and used cell phones?

A. Simply apply our pre-paid return label to your box.
- For UPS labels: give the package to any UPS driver or drop it off at any UPS location (The UPS Store, UPS Drop Box, UPS Customer Center, or UPS Authorized Shipping Outlet). You can go to http://www.ups.com to find a location.
- For FedEx labels: Drop off your boxes at the nearest FedEx drop-off location. To find the nearest drop-off location, go to http://www.fedex.com or call (800) 463-3339.
- For USPS labels: Give the box to your local postal carrier or drop it off at your nearest US Post Office.

Q. Is collecting empty inkjet and laser cartridges messy?

A. No. However, inkjet cartridges should be placed in zip lock bags and laser cartridges should be placed in a grocery bag prior to being turned in. This will ensure that ink doesn't leak through the box.

Q. Can we use our own boxes for the laser cartridges?

A. Yes, however, we do not pay for shipping laser cartridges.

Q. When do we get paid?

A. For recycling, once we receive the cartridges, we will inspect them and a check will be mailed within 7 business days.

Q. How many cartridges do we need to collect before we send them in?

A. We require only a minimum of twenty inkjet cartridges and/or cell phones, and no more than two hundred per box. Please do not mail large boxes of cartridges. We have found that the larger the box, the higher the frequency that the cartridges at the bottom of the box are damaged.

Q. Is this an ongoing program?

A. Yes. This is an ongoing program you can do month after month, year after year.

Q. Why are you paying us for this stuff?

A. Most brand-name cartridges can be remanufactured and reused. Cell phones can be refurbished. And anything, even after it's no longer working, can be recycled for its metal and plastic content. This is why we encourage you to send us all your cartridges, even ones that are not eligible for payment.

Q. Where can I get more questions answered?

A. Email us at info@planetgreenrecycle.com or call 1.800.377.1093
